Plenty of people consider it a very dramatic moment - Turking protest against Peres and Israel. It's very touching. But also very interesting that short memory keep everyone from talking about how they (almost every country we can mention) treated their own minorities and neighbours.

Tired Gaza 2009
Starting with work. HAving in the office 3 sectors - russian, orthodox and arab during such a war is already crazy by default. In pracitce - it's even crazier. Third day of war (first working day) arabic copyrighter catches me at the coffee corner just in order to apologize for un-convinience of erasing my profile from his friends list in facebook. GENIOUS!
If you erased me due to your ideology (not to have israeli friends "until the ceazefire") than why are you telling me this? I would have never noticed - considering that my communication with the guy via facebook equals to zero.
Of course I made a laughing/furious face (to confuse the opponent ;)) and demanded to return my friendship right away or i'll be really furious. noone wants to be around a furious russian. Well. he did - in 20 seconds. So now instead of having a silent israeli friend, the guy had our friendly relations on the front page in bid letters "** is now friends with **. Super! So that if he tried to conceal from his arab friends the fact of having any israelis in friends' list - now he had it written in capital letters ;))
wanna fo to sleep, so just smth small to sum up with - the good thing about living in Tel Aviv is that when u want to ne involved - you open ur mailbox/news/forums/LJ/facebook. But if you dont do that - you get peace and love all around you.

Just back form a journey to Jerusalem, amoth other attractions - for the first time I entered the area of the sacred arabic mountain (dont remember the name, lazy to look up in wiki) - gorgeous!! even though coming close to the main musque was strictly prohibited - 5 euro bought us a glimpse through the window which a very business-oriented muslim guy opened expecially for us ;))

While the newspapers and airwaves are filled with pictures of Palestinian killed or wounded by Israel thanks to careful manipulation by Hamas, the European and American press ignore the Israeli victims that are behind the Israeli attacks. This fits “the narrative” that Israel is an apartheid, terrorist state while the Arabs are the oppressed, allowing the terrorists to use the consciences of Jews, Europeans and Americans as cover for their killing spree.
Since 2000 Islamic terror groups have launched 10,046 rockets and mortars at Israel, most falling within a 20 km band from Gaza. Of these, terror groups launched 7,000 after Israel quit the Gaza Strip in 2005. The attacks killed or wounded nearly 300 Israelis (est), a ratio of roughly 35 missiles for each Israeli casualty

Held our weapons back,
The same weapons made to protect our right to exist in our own country.
We ground our teeth while missiles were fired on our citizens, our children, parents and brothers.
We hoped the hatred could be stopped with words, contracts, negotiations. Evicted people from their homes for the sake of peace,
But you kept shooting at us for the past 8 years.
Eight years of fire towards innocent people.
We kept quiet, because we do not wish for war or killing.
You, on the other hand, threaten and fire without halt.

Instead of using your money to improve the living conditions in Gaza, you purchase weapons with only one goal in mind, to harm and kill the Israeli people.
We are tired of wars and you use that fact to try destroying us.
We swore to our families who lost their lives in the holocaust, that NO MORE!

Who is to say when enough is ENOUGH!
I wish all the valiant soldiers who fight for the safety of Israeli citizens a safe return to their homes and families.
I wish your children - our enemies\' - children to be safe, to live long prosperous lives without losing oneself to their parents\' stupidity and hatred.
What kind of parents hide behind the bed of their little children, behind the dresses of their wives?
Despite it all, we wish to stop only those who harm us.
We do not wish to hurt the innocent.
We do not think lightly of guns as you do, our fingers press the triggers with great reluctance.

Orthodox Santa
location: public cab, somewhere between Petah Tiqwa (religious serious city) and Tel Aviv (...)
time: 2 p.m. New Year
A group of semi-drunk army-aged young guys and two girls were in a cab on their way from a boring city of "in Israel there cannot be such a thing as New Year bcs God will get upset" to Tel Aviv, that looks like a totally different non-stop partying country. At some point two probably serbian women and a man joined the merry company.
In efforts to make an imression on the girls, guys started making small jokes, but considering that when you are drunk there is no low voice in the spectrum of human abilities, women heard that and a loud drunken arguement started:
- Hey, we were celebrating, don't laugh at us (serbian accent in russian didnt help to stop the giggling)
- yeah, we are not laughing (heheheheheheh)
- Shall I show you what will you get if you dont stop?
- Oh,...yeah..c'mon...aha....
And so on for the next ten minutes, until all of a sudden...the cab stopped to pick another passenger and an orthodox ultra religiuos man walked in wearring traditional white shirt, black suit, huge hat, white tziziyot and those curls of wisdom. He assumed that the present ppl were celebrating the forbidden holiday and of course he'd better not know how the population goes down and there is no tomorrow in such tempo. So he tried to ignore the company as hard as he could and look at some unknown direction, when on eof the guys, still staring at the rabbi shouted happily :
- And here is SANTA CLAUS!!!!!
At this point everybody in the cab burst out in laughter and immedeately decided that they have to join forces vs the santa ;)) Needledd to say - Santa made a "omg, plz make those sinners that just ruined my ticket to heaven disappear"..but they didnt.
It was such a fun-ride, totally in the spirit of holiday!
